Australian Mutual Bank is proud to be part of the "Respect and Protect" initiative, aimed at addressing and disrupting the growing issue of financial abuse in Australia. To support this effort, our terms and conditions will be updated on 27 December 2024 to more clearly define financial abuse and specify the actions that may be taken if this or other prohibited activities are identified, helping to prevent the misuse of our products and services for harmful purposes.

From 27 December 2024, the Australian Mutual Bank Ltd Account and Access Facility Conditions of Use will include a new section titled "No tolerance for financial abuse" under Account Operation.

Information added under this new heading:

“Bank accounts must not be used for engaging in any form of financial abuse, unlawful conduct, or any offensive, threatening, defamatory, harassing, or controlling behaviour. If such activity is detected or reported, we may issue a warning, restrict access, or close your account.

If you are experiencing financial abuse and wish to discuss support options, please contact us. Further information on financial abuse is available on our website.”

While we’ve highlighted the changes that we think are the most relevant to our members, we recommend you review the full document here.
