On Wednesday 9th April 2025, Australian Mutual Bank partnered with Barnardos Australia to host a Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) awareness workshop at our Surry Hills Head Office.
Fifteen of our staff members participated in this impactful session, led by Gethin Cadwaladr, Program Manager and Jan Smith, DFV Specialist Support Worker from Barnardos' Auburn Centre. The workshop aimed to equip our team with the knowledge and tools to recognize signs of DFV, respond appropriately, and refer individuals to the right support services.
This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment, both within our organisation and the broader community. By enhancing our understanding of DFV, we empower our staff to contribute positively to the wellbeing of those affected.
"It was a transformative experience that shed light on the often-overlooked issues of financial abuse. The workshop equipped me with valuable knowledge and practical strategies to recognise, prevent and respond financial abuse and other types of abuse.". - Eva, workshop attendee.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Barnardos Australia for facilitating this essential training and to our dedicated staff for their active participation. Together, we’re taking meaningful steps toward creating a more informed and compassionate workplace.
